Kryska Marquard
I completed my undergraduate degree in Social Dynamics at Stellenbosch University, my honours in Psychology at The University of South Africa and my masters in Clinical Psychology and Community Counselling at Stellenbosch University.
My growth in the field of psychology started with my work at Usiko Stellenbosch, where I ran adolescent groups and wilderness therapy interventions with the team. After this, I worked at the Saartjie Baartman Centre, where I provided counselling aimed at healing the impact of gender based violence.
I also have experience working with survivors of cancer and families who have lost loved ones to cancer at CANSA. After this, I worked with at risk adolescents as an Office Manager and School Counsellor for Community Keepers.
At Welgevallen Community Psychology Clinic in Stellenbosch, I worked as a Student Clinical Psychologist. As an Intern Clinical Psychologist, I worked at Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital. After that, I worked as a Public Service Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Correctional Services in the Southern Cape .
I currently work as a Clinical Psychologist for the Department of Social Development, where I provide psychological services to children and adolescents in secure care centres in the Western Cape. I also run a small private practice in the Main Road in Paarl. In addition to my clinical work, I also guest lecture at universities as well as provide supervision to students and interns in the field of psychology.
I believe when we have the opportunity to engage ourselves in a non-judgmental and non-threatening space, we open the gateway for personal growth. In the words of Carl Jung: “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you really are.”
